And a Happy New Year to you also Liam 😜

A good read as usual thanks - I would add to the last paragraph advice to tune out of the news media regularly for days at a time to maintain an even mental keel 😎

Your final two paras say it all, but remember what Mahatma Gandhi achieved by passive means. Developing individual resilience is the best, if not the only, way to combat the combined depressive effects of the probable downturn in just about every area of our lives. Don't just touch the grass, walk on it barefoot. Don't let the turkeys get you down!

Agree! And cultivate gratitude, even if you think you lack stuff and life sucks, because comparison can be the thief of joy.

New Year, new realisms! Not like the old days This truth hurts. I agree it is going to be a year of distracting us - one thing is from what is really happening with many persecuted minorities around the world.

'No Jews, no news' means we don't hear about Sunni Muslims v Shia Muslims (one of the reasons Egypt and Jordan absolutely refuse to take in any Palestinians); genocide of Kurds in Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey!!! or the genocide of Nigerian Christians by Muslims this Christmas Day or even the thousands of white South African farmers killed by the corrupt black SA government. Why doesn't it make the news?

Don't underestimate Donald Trump, he appeals to those who remember the values of Judeo Christianity, justice, decency, meritocracy, national pride, free speech and democracy and he was a successful broker of peace in the middle east which is why (apart from Lebanon and Yemen who fire rockets and blockade the Red Sea), as neighbours they are leaving Israel to do the dirty work of cleaning out Iranian terrorist proxies (Hamas and Hezbollah).

It is (not) very surprising that you would characterize former president Donald Trump as a "former game show host" as opposed to for example a "self made multi billionaire" or a person who really did want to "make America great again" or "the only US President not to foment war somewhere in the World" or "the President with the super model wife" or the "President who created 1 million jobs in his first 7 months in office" or "the President who donated his entire salary to charity" or so many other ways than just 'former game show host'. At the end of the day making an absolute dumbass statement like that only goes to show how utterly pathetic you yourself are - it's an auto-relfection on your own lack of substance &/or achievement in this world. Really, it is, & sadly so to the point where your obvious TDS is at such an advanced state that you cannot even see yourself making a twat of yourself with a simplistic description of a person who you could never ever hope to emulate in the simplest of ways, because you're just too small & too small minded & of such insignificant social standing to even hope in your wildest dreams of becoming, one day in a hundred years, the small toe nail of Donald Trump.

Have a nice day dear & really, you should see someone about your TDS or it'll eat you up from the inside. Or has it done that already?

Wow that's a bit OTT. We all describe objective things differently through the lens of our own convictions - for example as an atheist I wouldn't describe the Israel-Gaza region as 'the Holy Land' but each to their own.
